In May and June, when the paths are green and the water is already swimmable, the walking beaches reward the effort: Cala Moresca, with its twin golden coves and pine shade, and Cala Sabina, reached on foot or along its loop trail, are at their quietest and most vivid. In July and August, choose services and shelter — Cala Sassari, protected from the westerlies and fully equipped, or the five numbered town beaches of Golfo Aranci, where facilities sit a few steps from the sand; go before ten or after five. September into early October brings the warmest sea of the year with a fraction of the visitors: this is the moment for Spiaggia Bianca's pale shallows, for small Sos Aranzos, and for Cala Banana further down the coast.

How to Get There

Every beach above lies on or just off the SP82, the coast road between Olbia and Golfo Aranci that also serves the villa. From Olbia Costa Smeralda airport, the first beaches appear within twenty minutes' drive; from Villa Cala Sassari, Cala Sassari is a short walk, Spiaggia Bianca and Sos Aranzos a few minutes by car, and the Capo Figari coves about fifteen minutes plus a walk from the car park.

The equipped beaches — Cala Sassari, the town beaches, Spiaggia Bianca — offer sunbed and umbrella hire and seasonal kiosks; the wilder coves of Capo Figari have nothing at all, so carry water and shade. Sandy, gently shelving seabeds make most of these beaches easy with children, but pack reef shoes for the granite edges. Parking fills by mid-morning in August almost everywhere; arriving early is the only reliable strategy.
